🔁 Migrate templates to the v6 placeholder syntax

In v6 we renamed owner and user placeholders so they match HubSpot's internal property names directly. Your existing templates continue to work – but a one-time switch is worth it, because the new syntax is more consistent and more flexible.

✅ Placeholder mapping

Labels and formats are preserved – e.g. [company(Primary).owneremail(format:upper)] simply becomes [company(Primary).owner.hs_email(format:upper)].

✅ Existing templates keep working

When a document is generated, old placeholder names are translated on the fly for that specific document only – the template file itself is not modified. You can decide at your own pace when to migrate.

🔁 Automatic migration via the "Migrate templates" banner

As soon as the card detects templates with legacy owner or user syntax, a "Migrate templates" banner appears on the card.

Click "Migrate templates".
ChiliDocs rewrites the affected .docx files in the HubSpot File Manager – same file, same link, just with updated placeholders.
The originals are stored in an "Archive_YYYYMMDD" subfolder inside the ChiliDocs folder. This archive folder does not appear in the template picker.
When finished, the card reports how many files were migrated and (if any) how many failed.

💡 Notes

The banner only migrates templates visible for the current record type. Templates in pipeline folders of other objects need to be migrated from a record of that object.
Large libraries may need several clicks – the migration stops after about 90 seconds, just click again to continue.
If an individual template fails, it is not changed. Open the file and update the listed placeholders by hand.
