🆘 FAQ & troubleshooting – overview

❓ I can't add the ChiliDocs card to quotes

HubSpot quotes don't offer a record page with tabs (new CPQ quotes only open a preview sidebar), so no app can place a card there. Quotes are fully supported (a) as associated objects in templates generated on deals/contacts/companies and (b) in both workflow actions. See Supported objects.

❓ A template doesn't show up in the list

• Only .docx files are listed (other formats like .doc or .docm are not).

• Reserved folders such as "Attachment_Files" (generated attachments) and "Archive_…" (migration backups) never appear in the list.

• Pipeline folders only appear when the folder name contains an exact pipeline ID that matches the record's pipeline – details in Pipeline folders.

❓ Red "SyntaxError" in my document

ChiliDocs renders invalid placeholders as red error text in the generated document. Most common causes:

• Misspelled property name – check the internal property name in HubSpot (not the label).

• Owner placeholder without an object – e.g. [owner.hs_email] instead of [contact.owner.hs_email]. Owner always needs its object.

❓ Owner fields are empty after the update

The old placeholder names (ownerfirstname, owneremail, etc.) were replaced in v6. Your existing templates keep working, but a one-time migration is worth it – see Migrate templates to the v6 placeholder syntax.
